Katy Lyon, PT, DPT

Project Advisor

Ms. Katy has been my physical therapist since 6th grade. She has been an invaluable source of support and information both before and after my Nuss procedure. Ms. Emert, my Girl Scout Troop leader, has been an incredibly helpful guide through the Gold Award application process, with all the challenges and rejects. Her input has helped this Gold Award project become possible.

Dr. Dawn E. Jaroszewski, M.D.

Mayo Clinic Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Dr. Jaroszewski serves as director of the Mayo Clinic Chest Wall and Thoracic Surgery Program, specializes in pectus, and has been involved in over 100 research projects and publications. Dr. J is a has helped review and edit the information on this website to ensure accuracy. Dr. J and Ms. Beth Sandstrom, Dr J's nurse, have been wonderful advocates of my project, sharing information about my project through every platform. I am so grateful for their support in sharing this website with patients who need it.

Celia 

Research Assistant

Celia has helped me collect information for every page of this website. She specifically helped gather evidence-based knowledge for the "How is Pectus Treated?" and "Nuss Procedure" tabs.

Zoe 

Zoe is passionate about science, she's taken anatomy, biology, physics, and chemistry. She's been able to simplify complicated medical words into terms that elementary schoolers can understand, fulfilling our goal of easy-to-understand information.

Ms. House, my homeroom teacher, has mentored me throughout my project. She's been a great source of new ideas and general support during both the website building and the Gold Award application process.

Suraya 

Suraya is my Zoom expert. She'll help me run our support meetings (slated to start between November and December!) She's also currently helping me with social media, especially with Facebook, which I struggle to understand. She's also helping me plan out the Pectus Notebook Instagram page.

Patrick Kuesters

Mr. Kuesters, my Cybersecurity teacher, has helped me learn how to program this site and how to keep it safe online.
